Is it that CELPIP and IELTS are similar, why choose CELPIP and why not IELTS?

CELPIP and IELTS both are widely accepted English Language Proficiency Tests designed to check the abilities of the candidates for their immigration purposes. Both the tests have different scoring bands and scoring systems. However, CELPIP is considered more practical if a candidate desires to move to Canada for educational, professional or immigration purposes. CELPIP test has been based more on functional assessment than IELTS. CELPIP consists of the scenarios and experiences that a candidate may face in real life at an educational institution or professional organisation. CELPIP vs IELTS cannot be measured distinctively as both the tests have standard format and scores. The CELPIP test uses Canadian English and North American accents in the Listening section. IELTS exam is conducted in two sittings whereas the CELPIP is conducted in just one sitting. IELTS is a paper-based test and the speaking section is done in a face to face interview whereas CELPIP is completely computer-based. CELIP results are generated within 5 days of the test.

While selecting the suitable test format, a candidate must focus on the purpose of migration and place of migration. Among the two which test format is more suitable is a contributing factor in the selection. Additionally, the candidate must select the test after evaluating the relevance of both the tests in further education or career.
